Infection control training for Tasmania

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training

Five registered training organisations in Tasmania have received $840,000 in funding to deliver critical infection control training.

Through the first round of the Infection Control Training Fund TasTAFE, Work & Training Limited, Workforce Development Pty Ltd, the Australian Retailer’s Association and the Institute of Training and Further Education Pty Ltd have delivered important hygiene training for the retail, food handling and transport and logistics sectors.

The training has supported Tasmanian businesses to re-open and operate safely following the COVID-19 health and economic crisis, and will assist to reduce the risk of possible future transmission and better manage an infection situation.

With the impacts of COVID-19 still being felt by economies and businesses across the nation, it is clear we cannot afford a new outbreak in Tasmania as we progress on the road to recovery.

That’s why we are encouraging registered training organisations to apply for round two of the fund which will open in November 2020 and offer a wider range of infection control courses across other industry sectors.

Employers and staff across the retail, food handling and transport and logistics sectors can enrol directly with their preferred training provider.
