RSPCA WA is seeking information about a kangaroo which was shot with an arrow and found deceased in a rural suburb near Mandurah.
A member of the public reported seeing the kangaroo in a section of bushland on Woodland Parade, Stake Hill, hopping but with an arrow lodged in its side.
The roo was later found deceased, with the arrow still in place.
The arrow is a 30-inch Apex Carbon Blackout which is black and green. On the green flights of the arrow the figure 27.68 has been crossed off and replaced with 31.25.
RSPCA WA Inspector Manager Kylie Green said she was disgusted by the perpetrator’s despicable action.
“This is a deliberate and unprovoked act of cruelty towards an innocent creature,” she said.
“The roo would have been in immense pain as it slowly died from this arrow being staked through its body.
“Harming and inhumanely killing animals is an offence that attracts a maximum penalty of a $50,000 fine and five years in prison.
“If anyone knows anything about these attacks, including who this distinctive arrow may belong to, I urge them to contact the RSPCA WA Cruelty Hotline on 1300 278 350 or go to rspcawa.org.au to make a report.
Please quote job number 192653.”
