Inner West Arts and Music Summit success

Inner West Council

Yesterday, at Marrickville Town Hall, musicians, performers, promoters, creative businesses and elected representatives came together to work on a blueprint for the Inner West arts sector.

The Summit was hosted by the Inner West Council in partnership with the Sydney Fringe Festival and was designed to help performers, artists and arts-based businesses find a way forward after two years of the pandemic.

Inner West Mayor, Darcy Byrne and NSW Minister for the Arts, Ben Franklin gave the keynote addresses and then participated in a Q&A session before the Summit broke into working groups.

The innovative ideas that came out of the summit will form the basis of a blueprint that the Inner West will take to the State and Federal Governments.

Mayor Byrne is confident that both Minister Franklin and the new Federal Arts Minister, Tony Burke MP will embrace the findings of the summit and that a bright future for the creative community of the inner west and NSW lies ahead.

“NSW Arts Minister made an excellent contribution and there was real enthusiasm about what and the Government can do to breathe new life into Australian culture. The Inner West will be the beating heart of this change”, said Inner West Mayor, Darcy Byrne.
