Sydney is hosting the first-ever Australian Defence Science, Technology and Research Summit (ADSTAR) next week.
ADSTAR is Australia’s principal forum for showcasing the latest research and innovation relevant to Defence. It will bring together innovators and entrepreneurs; businesses big and small; universities and research organisations; and government experts.
Against the backdrop of an increasingly challenging and contested global security environment, the inaugural ADSTAR summit is focused on the central theme of resilience.
Participants will explore new concepts and emerging technologies that will enable the Australian Defence Force to prevail in rapidly changing and unpredictable settings.
“For the first time, ADSTAR allows us to bring together leading experts from across the entire innovation ecosystem at the same time, to harness the full potential of our science and technology enterprise,” says Professor Tanya Monro AC, Australia’s Chief Defence Scientist.
“We are strengthening existing partnerships and creating new ones across Defence, Government, industry and academia. By concentrating our efforts, we will be best placed to overcome Defence’s biggest challenges and build our national resilience.”
High-profile speakers at ADSTAR 2022 include Dr Cathy Foley, Australia’s Chief Scientist; Ms Heidi Shyu, Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, US Department of Defense; and Professor Dame Angela McLean DBE FRS, Chief Scientific Adviser, UK Ministry of Defence.
The Summit is being hosted at Sydney’s International Convention Centre and online from Wednesday 20 July to Friday 22 July 2022.
