Inspiring regional Engineers with our project delivery highlights

Wingecarribee Shire

At a recent gathering of the Engineers Australia Southern Highlands & Tablelands Regional Group, our Project Delivery team was proud to share the many great outcomes we’re achieving for the Wingecarribee community on projects that are a priority for them.

Around 40 Engineers from across our region attended, the largest turn-out since the pandemic.

Many told us they were appreciative of gaining a better understanding of the extensive work Council is doing, including the ways in which we’ve innovated to overcome unforeseen challenges.

“It was a great opportunity to connect with industry from across the region and we all felt very encouraged by the positive response from our peers to the work we do,” says Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Director, Project Delivery, Karin Targa. “Gatherings like this are an important forum for sharing useful knowledge and ideas for continuously improving upon the quality and efficiency of our project delivery.”

Three representatives from Council’s Project Delivery team were invited to present to the group.

Our Manager, Project Delivery discussed the innovative thinking that kept a complex road upgrade at Station Street on track and on budget when a potentially costly issue was unearthed. Genuine interest was shown for our well thought out approach to renewing, widening, and improving the safety of the severely dilapidated Range Road, within the confines of an extremely constrained road reserve and sensitive natural environment.

Insights to managing the restoration of Old South Road, a key arterial road for our Shire within a landscape of heritage and ecological significance, as well as our engineering approach to efficiently reconstructing 4 old bridges to modern standards without compromising residents’ access, were among case-studies shared by two individual Project Managers.
