Saturday 3 December is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). It’s a day to celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with a disability.
There are 28,000 people in Knox living with a disability of some kind.
If you are living with a disability or caring for someone with a disability support and services are available. These include:
- Council’s
- The Accessing Knox enewsletter, which is full of resources, services and events relating to the many aspects of disability.
- Access keys (accessibility guides) which help visitors understand what to expect when visiting Council offices and local Neighbourhood Houses. They can be particularly useful for people with autism spectrum disorder, cognitive impairment, dementia, Alzheimer’s and anyone who’d like an understanding of the physical area before visiting.
- Information on . Accessible playgrounds allow children with or without disabilities to gain access and use a variety of playground equipment.
The theme for 2022 is ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world’.
