Fans can now purchase tickets to see the world’s best men’s and women’s hockey teams play off in Western Australia, ahead of the Paris Olympics this year, as part of a new global hockey event.
Hockey is set to descend on Western Australia this April with the Perth International Festival of Hockey taking place from 6-28 April 2024. The festival will welcome three of the world’s top-ranking hockey teams to the Perth Hockey Stadium with its 6,000-seat capacity.
Australia’s national men’s team, the Kookaburras, take on India, while the national women’s team, the Hockeyroos, will take on China and Japan.
Perth is Australia’s ‘home of hockey’, as the host city of Hockey Australia’s High Performance Unit, a world-class centralised training program that supports the development and performance of the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras.
The Kookaburras have had a positive start to the year, beating their FIH (International Hockey Federation) Pro League opponents in seven of eight matches during their India tour in January.
Ranked fifth in the FIH standings, the Kookaburras will play a five-game test against India as part of the Perth International Festival of Hockey from Saturday, 6 April to Saturday, 13 April. The Hockeyroos, who are ranked fourth in the FIH standings, will compete in a tri-series against China and Japan from Friday, 19 April to Sunday, 28 April.
The Kookaburras, Hockeyroos and their opponents involved in the Perth International Festival of Hockey have all qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Perth International Festival of Hockey is proudly supported by the WA Government and Hockey Australia.
