To mark the second anniversary of the , the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) announced the launch of its newest Global Curriculum and Mentorship Program in Malawi.
The announcement comes one month after a meeting of gynecologic oncology societies and stakeholders, including WHO’s Clinical Expert for Cervical Cancer Elimination, Prof Groesbeck Parham. Hosted by the Charité Department of Gynecology, the meeting focused on opportunities to strengthen capacity for cervical cancer treatment and management.
As part of the program, Dr Lameck Chinula becomes Malawi’s first IGCS Fellow under the mentorship of Prof. Parham and Dr Michael Hicks of Women’s Oncology Care for Africa (WOCA). He joins 27 graduated IGCS fellows and 42 fellows currently enrolled in the program, who are driving comprehensive approaches to cervical cancer prevention and control across 17 countries.
