International shows are back at FRINGE WORLD 2023

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people enjoy the incredible array of entertainment on offer and it is always so amazing to see the city bursting with colour, entertainment and vibrancy.

International acts will be welcomed to the City of Perth as FRINGE WORLD 2023 kicks off next week.

Now in its 12th year, FRINGE WORLD will host more than 500 shows across more than 100 venues from January 20 to February 19.

To celebrate the return of FRINGE WORLD, Perth landmarks including Council House, shops, businesses and streets will turn pink during the opening weekend, as FRINGE WORLD transforms the city.

City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the City was the place to be this summer and FRINGE WORLD would see even more people flocking to the City of Light.

“We’ve seen huge crowds in the City over the Christmas and New Year period and it’s great to carry on this moment with the incredibly popular FRINGE WORLD,” he said.

“Each year, hundreds of thousands of people enjoy the incredible array of entertainment on offer and it is always so amazing to see the city bursting with colour, entertainment and vibrancy.”

“We’re excited to once again sponsor FRINGE WORLD for 2023, helping to support the city’s economy, cultural industry, and artists from here and abroad.”

The City is also pleased to see the return of the hugely successful FRINGE Sunday Funday on January 22.

The free, family-friendly event will take over William Street, Northbridge from 1pm to 6pm.

It’ll be hard to miss, with 3,000 square metres of bright pink Astro turf lining the street.

Presented by ARTRAGE, CEO Sharon Burgess said that it’s because of the support from the people of Perth that FRINGE WORLD is recognised as the third largest Fringe festival in the world.

“The atmosphere in the City during FRINGE WORLD is electric, with people of all ages enjoying the incredible global talent of artists that are performing at many venues all over the City,” Ms Burgess said.

“Make the most of the best time of year to visit the City and soak up all that the Festival has to offer!”

In August 2022, City of Perth council approved a three-year sponsorship for 2023-2025 of $400,000 annually ($1.2M total).

The City of Perth also supports Fringey Offers, FRINGE WORLD’s business engagement program. You can view all Fringey Offers currently available here.
