This International Woman’s Day we’re highlighting one of our key services for women, by women.
Since 1994, BreastScreen NT has been dedicated to women’s health across the Territory.
The passionate team, from diverse backgrounds, strive to constantly improve the service, overcoming unique challenges in service delivery.
To date BreastScreen have screened 139,606 Territorian women and Millie, the mobile mammogram truck, has screened 9,619 women!
Millie enables service delivery to remote areas from Yulara to Groote Eylandt, removing barriers like travel and accommodation, ensuring no woman misses out on life-saving screening.
The team support women from the point of abnormality discovery and provide a personalised comprehensive program of individualised assessment, diagnosis, counselling and referral.
Thanks to the dedicated team behind BreastScreen, attitudes towards screening have shifted, with a move towards preventative care and empowering individuals to manage their health proactively.
Early detection is the focus, knowing it’s key to successful treatment and better outcomes in the fight against breast cancer!
