The Angels Beach Drive and Bangalow Road Lane Improvement project is progressing well, with works currently underway to extend Sheather Street and connect it with Angels Beach Drive.
Intersection widening works will commence along Bangalow Road from Wednesday 16 February 2022, between the Angels Beach Drive/Bangalow Road roundabout and Kerr Street.
These works are expected to continue until July 2022 (weather and site conditions permitting).
During this time the following traffic changes will be in place:
- Two-way traffic will be maintained, however motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes via Kerr and Fox Streets where possible.
- Speed limit will be reduced to 40kmph in construction zones.
- Temporary pedestrian and cyclist detours will be in place around work zones.
To alleviate congestion and avoid travel delays please:
- Allow extra travel time.
- Avoid non-essential travel during peak morning and afternoon periods.
Once completed this project will deliver:
- Sheather Street extended to intersect with Angels Beach Drive to provide a left in/left out intersection.
- Construction of dual lanes on Bangalow Road between Kerr Street and Angels Beach Drive (separated by a central concrete median).
- A new central median on Bangalow Road. The Bangalow Road/Clark Street intersection will become left in/left out only (no right turn).
- Extended dual lead in/lead out lanes for the Bangalow Road/Angels Beach Drive roundabout northwards on Angels Beach Drive (past Sheather Street) and eastwards on Bangalow Road (to near Moon Street), separated by a median.
Ballina Shire Council thanks the community for their patience and understanding during this essential upgrade.
