Police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly assaulted with a metal bar and robbed in the state’s north.
About 2am on Sunday (1 December 2019), a 42-year-old man walked across a bridge on Calala Lane at Calala when he was approached by two men.
It is alleged one of the men struck the 42-year-old to the knee with an iron bar, causing him to fall to the ground where he was hit once more to the back of the head.
The two males allegedly left the scene with the man’s phone and wallet.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District spoke with the man and commenced inquiries.
He was treated by Ambulance personnel at the scene, and later attended Tamworth Hospital for treatment to a head laceration.
The men were described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander in appearance and were last seen wearing dark coloured shorts and sneakers.
Investigations continue.
