Police have released CCTV vision in an appeal for public assistance after a Mercedes was stolen from a unit complex near Redfern last month.
About 6pm on Saturday 8 December 2018, a 32-year-old woman parked her green 2009 Mercedes C63 sedan, with NSW numberplates CLB29V, at an underground carpark on Defries Avenue, Zetland.
When she returned to the carpark the next day at 1pm, the vehicle was gone.
Officers from Redfern Police Area Command attended the scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Dhoti.
Following further inquiries, strike force investigators have released CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He has been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his 30s, and of a medium build. In the vision, he is depicted wearing a Santa costume with a white beard.
Images of the stolen Mercedes sedan have also been released to locate the vehicle.
Redfern Police Area Commander, Superintendent Andrew Holland, said investigators were keen to speak with the man depicted in the vision.
“Stealing is unacceptable, and our investigators will continue to pursue all leads to crack this case,” Supt Holland said.
“As part of our investigation, we are calling on the community and, in particular, the man in the vision to come forward and assist us with our inquiries into this brazen motor vehicle theft.”
