The McGowan Government has committed to an additional $40 million to Western Australian public schools to support students with disability.
The funding will go toward the Individual Disability Allocation which is one of a range of provisions to support the learning requirements of students with an eligible diagnosis of global developmental delay; intellectual disability; autism spectrum disorder, deaf and hard of hearing; vision impairments; severe mental disorder; physical disability; and severe medical/health condition.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
“We are committed to providing Western Australian children with the best possible opportunities to learn.
“This additional funding will help schools support their students, some of whom are among our most vulnerable.
“Principals know their communities well and providing them with funding through the Individual Disability Allocation allows them to make decisions that meet the needs of their students.”
As stated by Disability Services Minister Stephen Dawson:
“I’m proud to be part of a Government that’s putting the needs of students with disability front and centre.
“An extra $40 million will go a long way to help support complex needs of people with disability in our education system and therefore also support their families and carers.”
