Victorians are set to receive more career opportunities and local business can get the skills they need through the $10 million Skills Solutions Partnerships Program.
Local TAFEs and dual sector universities will work together with industry to reshape the state’s workforce and ensure new training courses prepare students so they’re job-ready for the future.
The initiative enables government, industry, TAFEs and dual sector universities to co-design and pilot new training courses, including micro-credentials and on-the-job learning models.
The program will identify skills gaps in key industries and develop job-ready training for workers that meets Victorian businesses’ needs.
Courses will be offered in areas such as manufacturing, digital, construction, clean economy, healthcare and social services to equip these industries with the talent they need to adapt and grow.
The Skills Solutions Partnerships Program complements the Victorian Government’s $63.8 million Digital Jobs and the $4.5 million Digital Jobs for Manufacturing programs which are training Victorians to fill digital skills shortages.
The Victorian Government is also supporting Victorian learners to gain the skills they need for a career in high-demand industries through initiatives such as Skills First and the Free TAFE program, which has removed the barriers to training for more than 153,000 students – saving them over $394 million since the program began in 2019.
The program also builds on the government’s plan to grow skilled jobs and cement Victoria as Australia’s manufacturing engine room through initiatives like the $20 million Manufacturing and Industry Sovereignty Fund, the Made in Victoria – Manufacturing Growth Program and the Energy Technologies Manufacturing Program.
