The Jim McConville oval is the latest project completed as part of the Labor Government’s $6.2 million investment in community sporting infrastructure improvements in Alice Springs.
Local sports clubs can now enjoy the upgraded change rooms, toilets and canteen facilities.
Delivered by a local contractor, Blueprint Construction, the upgrades join three other completed projects at Traeger Avenue Hockey pitch, Alice Springs Basketball Centre and Flynn Drive oval.
Ross Park and Albrecht oval upgrades are in progress and the tender to upgrade Rhonda Diano oval closes 14 November.
The Territory Labor Government continues to work with the Alice Springs Town Council to deliver the community priority projects.
As stated by Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss:
“The $6.2 million investment from the Territory Labor Government into sporting infrastructure projects in Alice Springs is delivering results and we continue to work in collaboration with the Alice Springs Town Council to deliver them.”
“Investing in the Territory’s sporting assets is important as they build vibrant and healthy communities, boost the economy and create local jobs.”
As stated by Alice Springs Mayor, Damien Ryan:
“Jim McConville is one of seven sporting facilities that has benefited from the NT Government and Council working together to implement a $6.2 million sporting infrastructure package for our community.
Council thanks the NT Government for their funding towards this project and is looking forward to reaching completion for the remaining sporting facilities – Ross Park, Albrecht and Rhonda Diano.”
