The Territory Labor Government has invested $14.2 million into improving the Alice Springs Hospital precinct.
Construction is now complete on the $1 million upgrade to the Alice Springs Hospital Outpatient Department. The upgrades will improve patient flow and improve access to the pathology and antenatal services.
Refurbishment of the pathology collection room included the installation of a chair for blood tests to ensure patient privacy and comfort, and a new minor procedures room for an outpatient eye clinic, which is now operational.
Local company Scope Building completed the works, supporting 45 local jobs.
Recently, the Alice Springs Hospital multi-storey car park opened. It accommodates 288 cars and provides much needed additional on-site parking for staff and public. The development also improves staff safety by enabling them to park on-site in a secure, well-lit and undercover area.
More than 13,200 staff, patients and visitors have utilised the Alice Springs Hospital multi-storey carpark since it opened in August this year.
Works are currently underway for the new hospital staff accommodation project that includes 70 units, supporting more than 110 jobs and indirectly providing 465 jobs.
The accommodation complex will provide safe, secure and modern accommodation for NT Health and is expected to open in early 2023.
