Is your organisation as inclusive as you think?

The Australian Retailers Association (ARA) invites retailers from across the nation to attend the ARA HR Retail Forum: Diversity, which will be held in Sydney on April 10th.

The ARA has partnered with Diversity Council Australia (DCA), a not-for-profit peak body leading diversity and inclusion in the workplace, to deliver an insightful forum that will focus on diversity and its impact on recruitment, training and business operations.

Russell Zimmerman, Executive Director of the ARA, said although diversity is a challenging issue that impacts all industries, he believes this event will be highly beneficial for retailers who wish to optimise diversity within their workplaces.

“The ongoing issue of diversity continues to affect all industries across Australia and the retail industry is not immune,” Mr Zimmerman said.

“The ARA is a strong advocate for diversity in the workplace and we believe this forum will encourage retailers to make their workplaces more inclusive which will hopefully assist in closing this gap.”

The forum will feature a stellar line-up of keynote speakers including, Mariam Veiszadeh an Inclusion and Diversity Practitioner, lawyer, award-winning rights champion and speaker, and Kylie Van Luyn, an Employment Services & Social Enterprise Director at Settlement Services International. Mr Zimmerman said the ARA is proud to host an event lead by talented female leaders.

“We are honoured to have Mariam and Kylie as our keynote speakers. Both speakers have commendable accolades and have made strides in the way of diversity and inclusion,” Mr Zimmerman said.

“Through sharing their personal experiences and offering guidance, our expert speakers will cover proven diversity and inclusion strategies, which have helped businesses to reap tangible benefits – from employees to customers, new talent, decision-making and leadership.”

Following the keynote speakers, a panel discussion comprised of leading Human Resource (HR) practitioners from retail stores across Australia will deliver specialty advice on the topic of diversity.

The panel includes; Sophie Firmager, Human Resources Director, Tiffany & Co, Tammy Ryder, Head of People and Culture, Coles Liquor, Silvana Tassone, General Manager of People and Culture,

Fantastic Furniture, Heather Campbell, General Manager of Human Resources, George and Matilda Eyecare and Jenifer O’Connor, Head of Human Resources and Culture, Foodco Group Pty Ltd.

“This forum is a valuable opportunity to learn from some of the leading HR professionals in the industry and equip yourself with the essential tools required to understand the importance of diversity in your workplace,” Mr Zimmerman said.

“We encourage retailers from across Australia to register and join us at the exclusive in Club of United Business, 3 Kings Cross Road Darlinghurst – Sydney, on April 10th, 2019. We look forward to seeing you there.”
