Secondary school students with a story to tell have until 26 June 2020 to enter for a chance to have their story professionally produced by the ABC and shared with the rest of Melbourne.
Takeover Melbourne is a new initiative from the ABC and Resilient Melbourne, with the support of Melbourne metropolitan Councils including Brimbank, aimed at showcasing the voices of young Melbournians and encouraging them to share stories about their lives.
Brimbank Mayor, Cr Georgina Papafotiou said Takeover Melbourne is an amazing opportunity for young people in Brimbank and across Melbourne.
‘We know young people have a lot to contribute to the community and their voices will help shape the future of this city.
‘We also know they have many stories to share.
‘Takeover Melbourne is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Brimbank to share their stories, and their unique voices, with the rest of Melbourne.
‘By sharing their stories, young people could win a life changing opportunity. Winners will get to work with ABC producers to share their story on the ABC.
‘Multiple winners will be chosen from across Melbourne and we would love to see a young person from Brimbank represented,’ Cr Papafotiou said.
Stories can be submitted to the Takeover Competition in any format including writing, video, photos and audio.
The competition is open to all secondary school students or young people outside of formal education aged 12-18 years.
