Lace up your running shoes and get ready to enjoy some top tunes at The Warm-Up at Anzac Oval this weekend. The event, held on Saturday 14 October, will celebrate the region’s love of music, sport and community spirit, as well as one year to go until the return of the Alice Springs Masters Games (ASMG) next year.
Australian music icon Paul Kelly will get the crowd dancing following the Red Centre Mile and Colour Frenzy fun run. Opening for Kelly will be national artist Steph Strings, fresh off a successful season touring the Northern Hemisphere, and Central Australian talent the James Range Band.
Get on down to Anzac Oval from 2pm to enter the family friendly Colour Frenzy, which kicks off at 2.30pm and sees everyone splashed in bright colours as they enjoy a fun run.
The Red Centre Mile invites people of all skill levels to take part in a mile-long race. With great prizes for a range of categories, including best dressed, there’s plenty of reasons to get involved in the free race.
Other entertainment to enjoy includes giant games, the Alice Springs Reptile Petting Zoo, AFL activities by AFL NT, face painting, the mechanical surfboard, mini golf and a podium photo space.
The Warm-Up, which is free to attend, also launches the ASMG, which will see Alice Springs come alive next year from 12-19 October. Sports on offer include cricket, cycling, go karting, darts and swimming.
