Campaspe Shire Council is excited to announce the funding of a two-stage masterplan and detailed design project for the redevelopment of Jaycee Park Precinct in Kyabram. This initiative is set to be financed through the Council’s Open Space Developer Contribution Fund.
The project aims to create a comprehensive masterplan that encompasses the playspace, carpark, skate park, pool, and senior citizen’s building. Following the masterplan, a detailed design phase will commence to rejuvenate and enhance the play space and skate park, along with the associated parking facilities.
Mayor Rob Amos said this a significant step forward for Kyabram in response to the growing needs of the community
“The redevelopment of the Jaycee Park precinct will not only enhance the beauty and functionality of the space but also reflect our commitment to fostering a vibrant and active community,” said the Mayor.
The project and its location are driven from the extensive consultation and planning conducted during the development of the Kyabram Place Based Plan that was endorsed by Council in December 2023.
Mayor Amos said the community’s desire for an improved play space in Kyabram has been a driving force behind this decision.
“The current play space and skatepark do not align with the principles outlined in our Play Spaces Development Policy and we are committed to redeveloping these areas to provide a unique and engaging play facility that meets the community’s aspirations,” he said.
The Kyabram Pool will be incorporated into the masterplan of the precinct, aligning with the Council’s future Aquatic Strategy. Council endorsed the development of an Aquatic Strategy in March, which will aim to deliver improved aquatic facilities and wet play areas across the shire for the next 15-20 years.
A comprehensive engagement process will be undertaken with the Kyabram community, including children, youth, and families, to ensure that the new play space and skatepark cater to the diverse needs of all community members.
Once completed the masterplan of the precinct and detailed design of the play space will support future funding opportunities for construction.
“We will be inviting all residents to participate and share their insights on the design of these vital community spaces.
“We envisage an exciting and vibrant play space and skate park where local community and visitors will enjoy a revitalised outdoor space within Kyabram,” Mayor Amos stated.
