Jeremy Haw crowned Victoria’s veg Grower of Year

Jeremy Haw of Hussey & Co has received the coveted Grower of the Year award at the 2019 AUSVEG VIC and Wolfdene Awards for Excellence held on Friday 3 May.

Established in 1975, Hussey & Co is a leading producer and supplier of premium gourmet baby leaf salad mixes.
As the Managing Director of Hussey & Co, Jeremy is no stranger to implementing quality and innovation in all facets of the business.
“Jeremy is currently running the most consistent salad operation in the country,” AUSVEG VIC State Manager Tom Cohen said.
“Jeremy has formed collaborative partnerships on the ground to expand his brand recognition and business footprint. He has invested heavily in the most recent farm equipment available and continues to build a loyal stable of people around him to drive his business forward.”
From humble beginnings in Pearcedale on the Mornington Peninsula, Hussey & Co has since expanded its growing operation to Newry in Victoria’s Gippsland region and Gatton in Queensland. The company is also one of Australia’s leading exporters of baby leaf salads, sending produce to a range of markets in South East Asia as well as Dubai.
The Grower of the Year award, which is proudly sponsored by Wolfdene, recognises an outstanding vegetable or potato grower in Victoria who is innovative, challenges convention, implements efficient practices and actively contributes to the broader industry.
Hussey & Co prides itself on an optical sorting, triple wash system and air drying technology which helps to ensure clean, quality product that meets stringent food safety standards.
Mr Cohen said the award was a well-deserved recognition of Jeremy’s innovative approach to production and his dedication to finding new avenues to expand his business.
“AUSVEG VIC would like to congratulate Jeremy on his achievements so far and his commitment to excellence in his own operation. We look forward to seeing what Hussey & Co develops next under Jeremy’s leadership,” he said.
Jeremy will be nominated in the Grower of the Year category at the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Awards for Excellence, to be held during Hort Connections 2019 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 26 June.
AUSVEG VIC represents the interests of vegetable growers across Victoria and provides them with a united voice and strong representation with all levels of government.
