Thursday, 2 November 2023 – Jetstar is celebrating the first anniversary of its direct flights from Sydney and South Korea’s capital Seoul, carrying more than 90,000 customers since its launch.
Operated using Jetstar’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, the inaugural flight from Sydney to Seoul on 2 November 2022 marked the first time a low-cost carrier offered direct flights between the two destinations.
The route has proved incredibly popular, on the back of growing Australian interest in South Korea’s rich heritage, delicious food scene, vibrant pop culture and exciting nightlife.
Thousands of South Korean travellers have benefited from access to Jetstar’s great low fares, with Sydney’s enduring popularity supporting New South Wales’ tourism economy.
Jetstar currently flies three times a week between Sydney and Seoul. But from February next year, the low-cost airline will offer its customers more choice, with daily flights from Australia and Seoul.
The carrier is adding a fourth weekly Sydney to Seoul service from 5 February 2024 and launching flights three-times-a-week between Brisbane and Seoul starting 1 February 2024.
Following the additional flying from February, Jetstar will offer more than 250,000 seats a year between Sydney, Brisbane and Seoul.
To celebrate, great low fares are available right now at jetstar.com:
- Sydney to Seoul (Incheon) from $409^ one-way
- Brisbane to Seoul (Incheon) from $329^ one-way
The flights have been supported by the New South Wales and Queensland Governments, Destination NSW and Brisbane Airport.
Jenn Armor, Jetstar’s Executive Manager, Customer said Jetstar’s low fares have helped to stimulate travel demand between Australia and South Korea.
“The success of this route comes as no surprise to us – Seoul is a destination that has something for everyone.
“The city’s rich history, gorgeous traditional villages and teahouses, bustling markets, incredible food, vibrant K-pop scene and exciting nightlife make it a must-see destination.
“We’re excited more and more Australians are discovering and falling in love with Seoul, while South Koreans are getting to access Jetstar’s great low fares and service, making a trip down under more convenient and affordable.”
