Origin Energy has successfully and safely spudded, anindustry term for commencing drilling, the Kyalla 117 well as part of itsBeetaloo Exploration Program.
Kyalla 117 is the first of two new appraisal wells to bedrilled and fracture stimulated to help determine the potential of the resourcein the Beetaloo Basin.
The operations in the Beetaloo are supported by a number ofTerritory businesses with more than 50 Territorians employed during this earlyexploration stage. This will increase as the project progresses and, ifsuccessful, moves into production.
Origin has regulatory approval for its EnvironmentalManagement Plans related to the well and is required to comply with strictregulatory standards as per the recommendations of the Independent ScientificInquiry into Hydraulic Fracturing.
Origins exploration permits are located around 600kmsouth-east of Darwin, between Daly Waters and Elliott.
The Beetaloo Exploration Project is a joint venture betweenOrigin as Operator (70%) and Falcon Oil and Gas (30%).

The Territory Labor Governments focus on creating localjobs and supporting local businesses is being delivered from day one ofOrigins new drilling in the Beetaloo.
Origin successfully drilling in the Beetaloo is anothersignificant milestone reached off the back of completion of all pre-explorationrecommendations from the Pepper Inquiry in July, as part of their explorationprogram.
Our regulatory framework allows for investment in thisemerging industry while protecting our environment.
