The hard-earned reputation of Huon Valley Seafoods, and its 25 regional jobs, have been saved as ‘Tasmania Blue Seafood’ has formally reopened today.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government has worked closely with the new joint venture partners, Richey Seafood Company and KSF Australia, to ensure that the Huonville facility lives on.
Premier and Minister for State Development, Jeremy Rockliff, commended the joint venture partners and welcomed the announcement that not only were the 25 jobs saved, but a further 25 will be added over the next year.
“I met with KSF in March 2023 as part of a Trade and Investment Mission and am pleased that this relationship developed, resulting in the jobs of hard-working Tasmanians being saved,” Premier Rockliff said.
“Not only will this acquisition secure the existing operation and jobs, but the business will look to expand over the next 12 months.
“We are pleased that our Government was able to play an important role in securing these important regional jobs.
“The Tasmania Blue Seafood partnership has recognised Huon Valley Seafoods’ long-earned reputation for quality salmon, oysters and mussels and the value it would bring to this new venture.
“Our Government is getting on with the job of growing our economy, building confidence and delivering investment that secures jobs for years to come.
“It’s only a strong economy that enables Tasmanians to put a roof over their head, put food on the table and pay their bills.
“It is clear that only the Liberal Government has a strong plan to grow Tasmania’s economy and promote investment and jobs – and that plan is working.”
