John Pesutto has had a shocking month and he’s doubling down and backing a dog of a project.
Like clockwork when a Liberal leader is in strife – John Pesutto has called into 3AW and announced his secret plan to bring back the East West Link.
This is a dog of a project that Victorians have rejected at three consecutive elections.
It’s clear John Pesutto is rolling out his secret plan for the East West Link to save his leadership.
John Pesutto isn’t trusted by his own colleagues and he can’t be trusted by Victorians. He can’t detail how much the project will cost, when it will start, what land is needed and what it will look like.
Infrastructure Victoria has made it clear the project isn’t needed and the impact on congestion between the Eastern Freeway to CityLink would be modest – at best.
The Liberals have opposed every major transport project that will actually get Victoria moving – the Metro Tunnel, West Gate Tunnel, SRL, North East Link and even removing 110 dangerous and congested level crossings.
They have opposed the thousands of jobs, the transport connections and infrastructure that will make sure Melbourne keeps up with its surging population.
So, while desperate John Pesutto announces his secret rehashed plan taken to three elections and rejected, we will get on delivering a pipeline of state shaping infrastructure projects that will keep Victorians moving safer and faster.
