Territory businesses are invited to design and deliver the Territory’s first co-located Digital Games and eSports Development Centre.
This is the first of two challenges under the Territory Innovation Challenge Program in 2022.
The first challenge is to design and deliver a permanent space in Darwin that provides Territory youth with a space to hold eGames, build digital skills, develop and commercialise digital products and establish start-ups.
eSport, short for electronic sports, is a form of professional digital gaming where spectators can watch gamers compete against each other in a virtual environment. Having a facility like this in Darwin will attract gamers from across Australia and throughout the world to share knowledge, form new connections and attract new investment.
Beyond just being a space to hold video game competitions the Centre will provide an opportunity for Territorians to build digital skill and develop digital products. Essentially the centre will be a hub to foster, train and grow a pipeline of STEM stilled innovators across the Territory.
The winning consortium will have an opportunity to negotiate a contract with the Territory Government.
The Program is also designed to accelerate the development of a more competitive, innovation-driven economy in the Territory.
