Judicial Commissions Bill Passes Tasmanian Parliament

Tasmanian Government

The Judicial Commissions Bill 2024 has passed the Tasmanian Parliament.

The Judicial Commissions Bill 2024 establishes a framework for the management of judicial complaints in Tasmania.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Guy Barnett, said that this was a successful step toward improving Tasmania’s justice system.

“Tasmania has a proud legal history, boasting the oldest Supreme Court in the nation,” the Attorney-General said.

“The ongoing success of our robust justice system hinges on continued and considered refining of our legislation – the passage of the Judicial Commissions Bill is a strong example of this.

“I want to thank all stakeholders involved in this process – it has been a thorough and extensive process.

“Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future our Government will continue to deliver strong legislative outcomes to improve the lives of all Tasmanians.”
