A new fleet of waste collection vehicles with advanced technology is currently being rolled out until the end of the year as part of Council’s commitment to improve waste services.
As part of Council’s “Keep Georges River Beautiful” campaign, new colourful designs on the collection vehicles feature vibrant and educational graphics reminding the community of how to manage waste responsibly.
Themes include recycling, bulky waste, reduce and reuse, general waste, illegal dumping, litter, organic waste, responsible battery disposal and more.
The new vehicles also feature advanced technology on board to improve efficiency in collection times, prevent missed collections and provide a safer service.
The upgraded fleet will handle the increased volumes of waste over the busy summer months and on public holidays with more frequent collections of litter bins from Georges River parks. This will help keep outdoor spaces clean, even during peak times, so the community can enjoy the summer festivities.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “We have listened to community feedback, and are providing a better service.
“This new fleet of waste vehicles is just one way we are Keeping Georges River Beautiful and we can’t wait to see them driving around our community.
“This initiative is part of our Waste Management Strategy 2021-2040 to ensure waste is managed as a resource with minimal impacts from its disposal.”
