Territory children aged 5 – 11 years old can now receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in a significant milestone for the vaccine rollout.
More than 3,200 Territory kids are already booked in to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine this month through NT Health vaccination centres.
NT Health will also be vaccinating 5-11 year olds in Pirlangimpi, Milikapiti, Jabiru, Julanimawu, Nauiyu (Daly River), Belyuen, Papunya, Mt Liebig, Milyakburra, Angurugu, Alyangula and Umbakumba this month.
It is recommended children in this demographic receive two doses of the paediatric vaccine, eight weeks apart.
The dose for the 5 – 11 age group is one third of the amount for people aged 12 and above.
Territorians have done an outstanding job with more than 95% aged 16 and above fully vaccinated.
80% of Territorians aged 12 – 15 have received their first dose, and 68 % are fully vaccinated.
Children aged 5 – 11 will also be able to receive their vaccination at pharmacies, ACCHOs, GPs and NTG vaccination centres.
