Many people are looking forward to packing the car – and the kids – to head away on a well-deserved family holiday this summer.
A correctly fitted child car seat can significantly reduce the risk of injury in an accident by up to 70%, however recent research from Kidsafe Queensland estimated that up to 80% of car seats are installed incorrectly.
We gathered a panel of industry experts from NeuRa, Kidsafe, Department of Main Roads and Transport Queensland, and Mobility and Accessibility for Children in Australia Ltd (MACA) to talk about their top tips for keeping kids safe on the road.
The panel discussed child restraint misuse, government policy and data, and recently conducted research on transporting children with disabilities and medical conditions.
The experts also shared key steps parents and carers can take to ensure safe travel with kids.
