Federal Leader of the United Australia Party, Craig Kelly, announced today the appointment of Leichhardt candidate Dan Hannagan to the shadow ministry.
Under a Kelly government the Cairns-born business executive and community leader will be appointed to the new portfolio of Minister for North Queensland, ending years of government neglect for the region’s residents.
“For too long the people of North Queensland have lacked real representation, infrastructure development has suffered and with that so too has the economy,” Mr Kelly said.
“Dan Hannagan brings a wealth of real-world experience, leadership and passion to deliver jobs and prosperity to the people of North Queensland,” he said.
Married with three sons, Dan is an active member, past vice president and president of the Circular Economy FNQ (formally the Committee for Waste Reduction), ex member of the Barrier Reef Toastmasters and group leader at Freshwater Scouts.
He started his own martial arts academy at 18 years of age and has been actively involved in coaching and studying health and fitness.
From 2010 to 2020, Dan was Managing Director of Medalfield, a family-owned waste recycling and landfill company.
Dan is passionate about giving back to the North Queensland community, volunteering for numerous charity events and fundraisers.
