Notifications of works for wildlife fencing, runway rehabilitation and lighting
Kempsey Shire Council (Council) was successful in receiving grant funding to install wildlife fencing and to rehabilitate the runway and lighting at Kempsey Airport.
Geotechnical investigation and potholing along RWY 04/22 are scheduled to occur Wednesday 18 October 2023 and Thursday 19 October 2023 and as a result the runway will be unavailable for these two days.
Our apologies for the late notice of these Works, however the Contractor has limited availability.
For those Airport Patrons that are based at Kempsey Airport, it is recommended that flying operations be modified to allow for the pavement closure dates that affect your hangar.
Where there is an urgent commercial need by a Kempsey Airport Business, the Contractor may be able to provide an access through the Works, or an alternative access, ensuring that this doesn’t damage or delay the works-in-progress.
Council will ensure that access will be available for aeromedical transfers. Details of closure will also be submitted by NOTAM.
While the Contractor has provided its best calculation of timeframes for the closure, factors such as weather or site conditions may extend durations. Alternatively, where works are completed earlier than the anticipated timeframes, the runway will be re-opened for operations.
Airport Patrons are reminded that the Contractor will only take direction from an authorised Council Representative, and should you have any urgent on-site issues during the Works, you may contact Noel Cheers (ARO/WSO) on 0418 247 127.
