The applications were assessed in several stages, and the Infrastructure Board developed a final proposal with contributions from a scientific group and an expert group, based on their expertise and experience. The scientific group included representatives from KI and Region Stockholm. Following the decision to grant funding, the Infrastructure Board will sign an agreement with the head of the department where the core facility is operational, to define mutual expectations.

“KI’s core facilities are a great asset and function very well. It is extremely gratifying that we have been able to allocate significant operational funds for the next period. It is important that the Infrastructure Board continues to support well-functioning core facilities but also contributes to ensuring that KI’s researchers have access to new core facilities,” says Karin Dahlman-Wright , Chair of the Infrastructure Board.

The Infrastructure Board at Karolinska Institutet has a special responsibility to provide funding for core facilities. As part of this, the Board announced funding for the operation of core facilities in the spring of 2024.
