Mitchell Shire Council will install two new pedestrian bridges on either side of the Northern Highway Road Bridge over Kilmore Creek on Thursday 22 October between 10am-2pm.
Motorists should prepare for delays of up to 20 minutes with traffic limited to one lane with full traffic management in place. Motorists are urged to seek an alternative route where possible.
The northbound lane of the Northern Highway will be closed at the bridge site, while the Clarke Street intersection traffic signals will be temporary disabled and flashing amber. Intersection traffic will be controlled via on ground traffic controllers.
While there will be minor delays, vehicles will still be able to move through the area. Council reminds residents and visitors to adhere to the instruction of traffic management workers to ensure everyone remains safe.
The two bridges will help improve pedestrian safety from the Clarke Street intersection to the Kilmore Caravan Park and future development in the precinct. The bridges will be 2.5 metres wide which will allow for bicycles, prams and wheelchairs to cross.
The Kilmore Pedestrian Footbridge project received $745,000 through the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
