Kilmore Creek environmental improvement works

Mitchell Shire Council is working in partnership with The Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA) to remove weedy tree species along a section of Kilmore Creek.

From Monday 17 April, poplars and other woody weeds along both banks of Kilmore Creek between Union and Bourke streets will be removed.

The works will be carried out between 7.30am and 3.30pm subject to weather conditions. While the works are underway, there may be some traffic control on Patrick Street in Kilmore between Mill Street and Bourke Street.

The works, which will take about four days depending on the weather, are funded as part of the Goulburn Broken CMAs Urban Waterway Works Project 22/23, to improve the quality of vegetation along the creek.

Funded by the Victorian Government as part of Goulburn Broken CMA’s delivery project, Connecting People and Place, these project works are aligned to priorities outlined in the Kilmore Creek Precinct Landscape Master Plan.

Some foliage spraying work is also planned to address other low-growing weeds present along the banks and invading the existing native plant beds.

To complement and enhance the vegetation quality along Kilmore Creek, Mitchell Shire, and the GB CMA will coordinate a community planting day of 200 native plants in the coming months.
