Townsville City Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of the king tide expected from this Tuesday.
The king tide is forecast to reach a peak of 3.92m at 8:12pm on Tuesday 29 August, with further king tides up to 4.01m until 9:27pm on Thursday 31 August.
Council recommends residents in areas that are prone to minor flooding during the tides take necessary precautions.
Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.
Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.
