Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a man after seizing knives and an imitation firearm in St Kilda early this morning.
Police intercepted a Mitsubishi Outlander wagon on Alma Road about 2.45am and spoke with the driver and his passenger.
Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly located a mobile phone adapted to be an imitation firearm inside the car.
Detectives also located knives and property suspected of being stolen property.
The driver, a 41-year-old Altona man was arrested and charged with numerous offences including possess imitation firearm in contravention of Firearm Prohibition Order, possess controlled weapon, deal with property suspected being proceeds of crime and traffic offences.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on today.
