La Trobe University has kept its position as one of the world’s top 300 universities in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World Ranking, placing equal fourth in Victoria and equal 14th in Australia.
La Trobe University has maintained its position in the 251-300 band of universities in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World Ranking, placing equal fourth in Victoria and equal 14th in Australia.
The rankings, released today, have also produced a strong result for research citations, with La Trobe climbing 27 places in the research quality indicator.
La Trobe Vice-Chancellor Professor Theo Farrell said the Times Higher Education ranking reflected concerted efforts by research, teaching and professional staff to secure recognition of La Trobe’s excellence on the global stage.
“Being ranked in the 251-300 band for a third consecutive year is a terrific result, particularly at a time of uncertainty in higher education, as it demonstrates La Trobe’s commitment to world-leading research that is making a real impact on some of the most important issues of our time,” Professor Farrell said.
La Trobe has been placed in Times Higher Education top 300 universities globally for three consecutive years.
The consolidation of the University’s position in THE rankings follows its best-ever result of 217 in the QS World University Rankings, announced in June.
The are the only global performance tables that judge research-intensive universities across their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
