La Trobe University leads Victoria for the number of undergraduate students and postgraduate research students employed full-time three years after graduation, according to the latest survey of graduate outcomes.
Almost 95 per cent of all undergraduate students are employed three years post-graduation, and La Trobe has improved its national ranking by 17 places in both full time and overall employment.
The results are part of the 2023 ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Graduate Outcomes Survey – Longitudinal (GOS-L), which reports on the employment outcomes of Australian graduates three years after completing their course.
The results showed La Trobe was:
- 1st in Victoria and 11th nationally for undergraduates employed overall – full time, part time, contract or casual – with 94.8 per cent of graduates employed in any capacity three years on
- 1st in Victoria and 9th nationally in undergraduates employed in full-time work three years after graduating, with 93.7 per cent of graduates employed
- 1st in Victoria and 15th nationally in postgraduate research graduates employed full-time, with 92.1 per cent of graduates full-time employed three years
La Trobe also ranked equal first in Victoria for the median salary for postgraduate coursework graduates, at $104,400.
La Trobe University Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Jessica Vanderlelie said the outcomes demonstrated the impact of La Trobe’s significant focus on working with industry and developing student employability.
“These outstandings results are proof that our students are leaving La Trobe with the skills that enable them to succeed and create real impact in the workplace,” Professor Vanderlelie said.
“We have expanded the number of industry placements and financial support available to students, that is opening increased opportunities for our students to gain practical experiences and make strong networks while they study.”
More than 16,000 students are connected with La Trobe’s sector-leading employability program, . Co-designed with industry the program supports students to develop the skills and experiences that employers are looking for.
