The best way to ease housing stress is to build more homes for Tasmanians, and that’s exactly what the Rockliff Liberal Government is doing.
Acting Minister for Housing Felix Ellis said the Government is on track to meet our targets.
“We are increasing the supply of social and affordable housing through our $1.5 billion commitment to deliver 10,000 homes over the next decade, and are on track to meet our target of 1500 homes by June 2023,” the Acting Minister said.
“In February alone, we delivered 107 new homes and units and successfully housed 79 applicants from the Housing Register.
“We understand that some people are doing it tough and while I cannot comment on individuals, we are getting things done to build homes as fast as possible.
“Sadly, Labor have nothing to offer except a policy to ban Airbnb in Tasmania that will do nothing to build homes and ease housing stress across the State.
“Similarly, Labor’s claim to immediately ‘fix’ 215 dwellings is another falsehood- these properties were simply undergoing routine maintenance in between tenants moving in and out, which actually prolongs the life of social housing.
“We are delivering more homes for those that need them, while Labor are offering nothing except falsehoods.”
