Labor spin can’t cover up $28 billion in Big Build cost blowouts

Liberal Party Victoria

Today in Parliament, the Andrews Labor Government has refused to say if major project cost blowouts have now exceeded $28.1 billion.

Victoria’s budget papers reveal at least $28.1 billion in cost blowouts under the Andrews Labor Government.

In September 2021, the reviewed 110 projects undertaken by the Andrews Labor Government. Of these, 63 per cent changed total cost and 48 per cent changed completion date.

Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Matt Bach said that Labor’s spin can’t cover up the truth.

“Labor’s big build is just a big bill Victoria can’t afford,” Mr Bach said.

“Daniel Andrews’ mismanagement and waste means higher taxes and longer waits for critical roads, rail and transport infrastructure.

“Only a Matthew Guy Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s Government will stop Labor’s blowouts and put more money into fixing the health crisis.”
