Labor to build a new library for Lapstone public school

Local kids are the big winners today after Labor announced its fully costed $2.9 million

plan to deliver a new Library for Lapstone Public School.

Labor Candidate for Penrith, Karen McKeown said “Local parents work hard to make

sure their kids get the best opportunities at school, that’s why Labor is supporting them

with this fully costed investment.”

“I want to make sure our students develop a lifelong passion for learning. Making sure

they love coming to school and have a great space to read and explore great books is

a key step to making that happen.”

Labor’s Education spokesperson, Jihad Dib said that Labor’s Library plan has been

through proper due diligence and is fully costed and budgeted.

“Labor has done the hard work. We’ve spoken with the community, we’ve spoken with

the experts and we’ve costed our policies. We will deliver this in the first term of a

Daley Government.”

Mr Dib said that recent announcements from Stuart Ayres were desperate election

stunts with no funding, and no guaranteed delivery timelines.

“Stuart Ayres and the Liberals are showing their desperation in Penrith by making

uncosted, last minute announcements that have no delivery time line.”

“Labor can afford to make fully costed investments like this in local schools, because

unlike Stuart Ayres and the Liberals, we won’t waste $2.2 billion of taxpayer money on

Sydney Stadiums.”

Ms McKeown said the Liberals have neglected Penrith.

“We know Stuart Ayres priority isn’t us here in Penrith, it’s giving his rich mates

expensive new stadiums on our taxpayer dime.”

“The Liberals have been cutting local schools for the last eight years. We know Stuart

Ayres is only talking about our schools now because an election is a few weeks away.”
