Lake Conjola- Lake Levels and Opening

Shoalhaven City Council acknowledges the ongoing concerns raised by residents regarding the situation at Lake Conjola and the difficult night that some residents have experienced given the recent rainfall.

Despite the rainfall experienced overnight, the Lake level is currently sitting at 0.86m. The Lake levels have not yet reached the required Planned Opening trigger level, however, the weather is being closely watched and crews and machinery are currently on standby, should the trigger level be reached.

A number of applications requesting a managed opening for the lake have been made to the State Government. Despite the numerous requests and provision of evidence from Council and the community, of the on-ground situation, the answer from government agencies, continues to be that a managed opening cannot occur at this time, given the current level of the lake.

Further representations have continued to be made by Council Staff, the GM, the Mayor and Councillors to seek an urgent opening of the lake as soon as possible and will continue to be made until a solution can be provided, to seek an opening of the Lake, for the community.

Council staff have been closely monitoring the lake levels via both the monitoring gauges. These are now in full operation and have continued to be monitored throughout this period.
