Lambassador program kicks off for 2022

A group of nearly 30 international chefs travelled to Victoria this month for an immersive paddock-to-plate program to learn more about Victorian lamb.

Delivered by Meat and Livestock Australia and supported by the Victorian Government, the group travelled to regional Victoria to see where Victorian lamb is produced, discovered new cooking techniques and experienced some of the state’s best food and wine.

The Lambassador program began in Japan and has now been expanded to new regions including South East Asia, the Middle East and North America. The program aims to strengthen international exports to new and established markets.

Victoria is the largest sheep meat exporter in Australia with exports valued at $1.4 billion. The program will help to grow global exports by boosting the profile and understanding of lamb in key overseas markets including Japan, Vietnam and South Korea.

We’re helping agricultural food producers to diversify their international export markets including through Global Victoria’s international network of trade and investment offices, the largest network of any Australian state.
