LambEx back on track with Albanese Labor Government support

The Hon Julie Collins MP
Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

The sheep and wool industries have come together after a six-year break for LambEx 2024, with $1 million in support from the Albanese Labor Government.

LambEx showcases Australia’s world-class sheep, lamb and wool industries, allowing sector leaders to share ideas, collaborate and come up with new and innovative ways to meet the challenges of the industry.

The conference is a fantastic opportunity for these industries to share knowledge, work together and celebrate the wins for sheep and wool.

The sheep and wool industries employed over 16,000 Australians directly and contributed more than $7.9 billion to the Australian economy in 2023-24.

IBISWorld forecasts that the industry will contribute an additional $1 billion to the Australian economy by 2030.

The Albanese Labor Government committed $1 million to LambEx as part of the Support Regional Trade Events program.

Australia is the world’s largest producer of wool, and the world’s largest exporter of sheepmeat.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations have both predicted a 48 per cent increase in the producer price of Australian sheepmeat over the next decade.

Australian lamb and sheep meat is produced to the highest standards of sustainability and animal welfare.
