Bayside Council is holding a bushcare morning at Landing Lights Wetlands on Saturday 31 August to help combat weeds, pollution and rubbish in the area.
Landing Lights Wetland, a little gem of nature in the heart of Bayside, is home to a variety of water and bush birds as well as the largest patch of endangered salt marsh left in the Cooks River Valley.
Natural areas like Landing Lights Wetlands, located in urban areas, are constantly impacted by weeds, pollution, and rubbish because of their urban location.
There will be a short tour of the wetland before the bushcare session to help remove weeds from a section of the bushland surrounding the wetland.
Council will supply tools, gloves and a light morning tea. Attendees are advised to bring their own cup and water bottle, wear a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, a hat and covered shoes or boots.
