We have now appointed landscape architect McGregor Coxall to prepare the Draft Masterplan that will guide the development of the nature reserve at the site of the old Elsternwick Park Golf Course.
McGregor Coxall will begin work with Council and the Community Reference Panel to ensure that the vision for Elsternwick Nature Reserve is captured. We anticipate that the draft plans will be available for community feedback in March 2020.
McGregor Coxall has an in-house environmental team with a core service delivery of urban ecological design and water sensitive urban design. This integrated team means that McGregor Coxall designs with a sensibility and working understanding of how urban spaces can and should enhance urban ecology.
Spanning over a number of years, a significant amount of work has already been undertaken by Council – including site investigations and extensive stakeholder and community engagement.
Through this process, a shared future vision for the Reserve has been established which will see it transformed into an environmentally themed area of passive open space.
The Masterplan will bring this vision to life, transforming the Reserve into a unique inner city space that will be enjoyed by residents and visitors from Bayside as well as the broader region.
McGregor Coxall will produce a high quality Masterplan for the enhancement and future development of the Nature Reserve. Embracing all aspects of a shared vision, the Masterplan will adopt a restorative and connective narrative for communities and natural environments of Bayside.
