Last drinks for Pub Choir’s Love You Queensland Tour

Pub Choir is back in Brisbane tonight performing its monthly show at the Tivoli in Fortitude Valley after the hugely-successful Love You Queensland tour, proudly supported by the Palaszczuk Government as part of Multicultural Queensland Month.

Multicultural Affairs Minister Stirling Hinchliffe MP said the Pub Choir collaboration had been a massive success across the State, showing that music really can unite us.

“Thousands of people joined Pub Choir in 10 regional towns across Queensland to sing up a storm,” Mr Hinchliffe said

“From Charleville to Winton, Longreach and Cairns, to Rockhampton and Mackay, Pub Choir director Astrid Jorgensen taught revellers to sing in three-part harmony the Ben Lee song We’re all in this together.

“Multicultural Queensland Month is such a good fit for Pub Choir, as both bring people of diverse backgrounds together to celebrate what we all have in common – a love of music.”

International recording artist Ben Lee is a supporter of the month and was excited his song was selected for the tour.

“I’m a strong believer in being inclusive … no matter where we come from, we all belong,” Mr Lee said.

Embracing the theme We All Belong, Multicultural Queensland Month featured more than 100 events across the State showcasing Queensland’s unique cultural diversity.

Ms Jorgensen said the Pub Choir experience had been extremely popular wherever it was hosted, with those involved often surprising themselves with the beautiful sounds achieved by singing in harmony with friends and strangers.

“Pairing with the Palaszczuk Government to share the message that we all belong has been a successful partnership,” she said.

“The opportunity to travel throughout regional Queensland and to share the joy of singing with 10 regional audiences has been a real privilege for myself and my team.

“The excited transformation of often-reluctant singers into a formidable choir in just 90 minutes has been lived afresh at each show – no matter where you go, humans love to sing together.”
