  • Cook Government congratulates the LeadAbility program on its 10-year anniversary
  • LeadAbility is delivered by Leadership WA, empowering Western Australians with disability to become confident leaders
  • Program has supported 272 graduates, including 113 with a disability

Disability Services Minister Don Punch has congratulated the LeadAbility program on an important milestone today, as it celebrates 10 years of empowering Western Australians with disability to become influential, confident and effective leaders.

The program is delivered by Leadership WA and builds the long-term leadership skills of people with disability, supporting those with a disability or people who work in the disability sector.

Since the program’s inception a decade ago, 272 people have successfully graduated from the program, including 113 people with a disability.

The 7-day entry-level course takes place across three months, and includes dynamic activities focusing on understanding leadership, effective communication, teamwork, and community.

The program is supported by State Government funding and aligns with the State Disability Strategy 2020-2030, which sets the foundation for building a more inclusive WA by empowering people with disability to participate meaningfully in all parts of society, including employment.

More information about the program can be found online at LeadAbility Course | Leadership WA .

As stated by Disability Services Minister Don Punch:

“It is important in an inclusive society that people with disability have an equal opportunity to participate meaningfully and have a say in all aspects of society.

“The Cook Government is proud to support the LeadAbility program, which for the past decade has been giving people with disability and workers in the sector the opportunity to harness their talent, abilities and expertise on the path to becoming confident and effective leaders.

“This in turn can facilitate a more inclusive society in which everyone can benefit.”
